Happy Kids Dental Planet
A graduate of Columbia University, she completed her residency in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center.
She later served as a clinical instructor at UCLA, as part of both the pre-med and dentistry programs. It was during this time that she became one of the creators of the Children Health Advocacy Training (CHAT) curriculum. Collaborating with pediatricians and dentistry specialists, Dr. Sami designed one of the first integrative residency training programs that incorporated western medical practices with other intuitive, holistic interventions. For her, comprehensive healthcare means recognizing the patient as more than physical symptoms, and that mind and spirit play essential roles in our state of health. It’s this philosophy that continues to drive her passion to offer integrative therapies through her practice such as cranial osteopathy, homeopathy, nutritional medicine and anthroposophical medicine, among others. Through her comprehensive approach to care, Dr. Sami has seen integrative treatment make dramatic differences in the lives of patients dealing with allergies, ADHD, autism and sensory integration challenges. Her treatment services are free from mercury, BPA fillings and sealants and use x-rays and fluoride only when absolutely necessary.
Her practice is based on “total body wellnessâ€, a philosophy that recognizes the synergistic connection our emotions play in our physical condition. It also emphasizes the correlation of a healthy mouth, jaw and airways with a vibrant, energetic body. Subtle changes in these areas can be the catalyst for neck, back and hip problems that are often misdiagnosed as the child grows. Early oral examinations can reveal problems with internal organs, such as the liver or kidneys, which present symptoms on the tongue. Dr. Sami’s integrative approach also includes airway evaluation and alignment that often provide dramatic results for the symptoms of ADHD, teeth grinding, bedwetting, mouth breathing and challenging behavioral habits.
Dr. Sami has created a healing environment of customized care where education for families is a priority. She understands that learning and healing only happen when they’re supported by a nurturing sense of compassion. As a parent herself, she recognizes the challenges families face and encourages parents to share their knowledge and experiences, because a stronger community means healthier children.
