Dr. Dawn Ewing is a naturopathic practitioner in Houston, Texas, Executive Director of the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine (IABDM), and author of Let the Tooth Be Known, now in its fourth edition.
She began her career as a dental hygienist after graduating from the University of Texas Dental School in 1988 and was eventually appointed to the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners by the governor, serving two terms.
A thirst for knowledge about the human body immersed her in the world of emergency medicine. Becoming a Nationally Registered Paramedic, she spent 12 years on a 911 ambulance and four years in international air ambulance transport.
She began teaching CPR to the public, Advanced Cardiac Life Support to health care providers and became an affiliate faculty member of the American Heart Association in 1987.
She was drawn back into dentistry by a biological dentist. He was looking for someone with knowledge of the body as a whole, not just the mouth. This new excitement led her to return to school for a doctorate in naturopathy, a PhD in holistic nutrition and a doctorate in integrative medicine at Capital University of Integrative Medicine.
Obviously ,a perpetual student, Dr. Dawn continues to do far more than the 80 hours of continuing education each year required for her combined licenses. Most recently, she was certified in functional nutrition by the Functional Nutrition Alliance.

Fran is a Certified and Accredited Biological Dental Hygienist and Associate Director of the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine; she serves on their Board and is the Hygiene Committee Chair. She also is a Hygiene Committee member, mentor, and lecturer for the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. She lectures at and for several biological and traditional organizations across the country, is an international public speaker, and performs individualized on-site office training. She is the Qualitative Director in charge of training biological protocols in the most prominent biological practice in her state. Additionally, she is a coach and trainer of biological dentistry and biological dental hygiene and the owner of Integrative Perio Solutions LLC and Hygiene Naturally. Fran is an active member of the IABDM, IAOMT, ADHA, and AAOSH. Her presentations and training receive rave reviews.
Dr. Katie To is a biological and cosmetic dentist and the owner of The Center for Integrated Wellness and Cosmetic Dentistry in Katy, Texas. As the only SMART certified dentist in Katy, safe patient care is a top priority. Her industry knowledge includes dental ozone therapy, biological dental surgery, cosmetic dentistry techniques and clinical nutrition. Within each area of expertise, biocompatible and nontoxic approaches are selected.
While the practice specializes in biological dentistry, Dr. Katie’s team places equal importance on proper nutrition, posture, sleep, mindset, and emotional wellness. She personalizes all dental materials, techniques, and procedures to maximize optimal wellness for each patient. This attention to detail extends to her work in cosmetic dentistry. As a Digital Smile Design (DSD) clinic, Dr. Katie uses cutting-edge technology to transform smiles and build confidence.
After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in biology, Dr. Katie pursued dentistry. She studied at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) with distinction in research and multiple awards in cosmetic dentistry upon graduation. Dawn Miller is a certified biological dental assistant and the Team Leader of The Center for Integrated Wellness and Cosmetic Dentistry in Katy, Texas. She is also the Director of Business Growth for the International Academy of Biological Dentistry & Medicine. She has been in the dental field for over 10 years and has worked all aspects of dental assisting, front office, and team management.
Dawn has expanded her career to also include coaching of dental teams across the country. She helps dentists and teams achieve better systems, efficiency, and ultimately better patient care. She is an experienced dental teams trainer and helps them go from conventional to biological dentistry. She has been a course organizer and speaker for KT Dental Seminars. She also has an online course called Canva for Dentists.
Dr. Cheng-Huai Ruan, MD is an internal medicine specialist in Houston, TX. Dr. Ruan completed a residency at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical College. They currently practice at Texas Center for Lifestyle Medicine and are affiliated with Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center, Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital and Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.
Dr. Alfi is from Los Angeles, California, and was fortunate to attend Columbia University during dental school, where there was a heavy emphasis on oral surgery and academic medicine. While earning his dental degree, Dr. Alfi became interested in the multiple specialties of oral surgery. Radiology, anesthesia, diagnoses, medical management, dentistry, surgery—the more he learned, the more he knew this was the path for him.
Following his residency, Dr. Alfi joined Houston Methodist and Texas Children’s Hospital while working as an associate professor and full-scope surgeon. He wanted to expand upon a practice that focused on research, innovation, patient care, and educating future surgeons. Dr Alfi then started his own private practice with the vision to excel in surgical outcomes and advance the field with research and development of surgical techniques.

Dr. Julie C. Woods is a practicing periodontist in Topeka, KS, where she has lived and worked since completing her residency at Baylor College of Dentistry in 2004. In 2017, when she and her team were crushing their production goals, Dr. Woods was burned out and making less money than ever. She was tempted to walk away from dentistry all together.
Thankfully, someone suggested she read Profit First by Mike Michalowicz. She implemented the cash management system in early 2018. In 2020, Dr. Woods pursued certification as a Profit First Professional so she could assist dental colleagues implement the cash management system. However, as her own practice transformed, she began to enjoy practicing more and time became limited for helping colleagues. Dental friends began asking if she would consider writing a book to help them better understand the business of dentistry. Her book, Profit Over Production, is available to order.
Dr. Woods is committed to busting the myth that the answer to all money problems is merely to “produce more”. She does not want anyone to ever feel as overwhelmed and burned out as she did. She knows they can transform their businesses, allowing them to choose their practice destiny.
