Electrodermal Screening & EAV

A bioenergetic diagnostic method developed by Dr. Reinhold Voll that measures electrical conductivity at acupuncture points to assess the health of teeth, organs, and body systems along energy meridians.

Electroacupuncture According to Voll

Where Energy Meets Biology

Developed by German physician Dr. Reinhold Voll in the mid-20th century, Electroacupuncture According to Voll (EAV) bridges traditional Chinese medicine's meridian system with modern electrical measurement technology. For over 40 years, it has been studied as a diagnostic complement in biological dentistry.

The method recognizes that each tooth sits on a specific meridian, an energy pathway connecting it to distant organs and tissues. A disturbance in a tooth can manifest as dysfunction in its corresponding organ system, and vice versa. EAV provides a way to detect these relationships before they appear on conventional diagnostic imaging.

In biological dentistry, EAV is most commonly used to determine which dental materials are least reactive for each individual, especially important for patients with chemical sensitivities and allergies.

The Foundation

Core Principles of EAV

Electrical Measurement

EAV measures the electrical conductivity at specific acupuncture points on the skin, each corresponding to a particular organ, tooth, or body system via traditional Chinese meridian pathways.

Tooth-Organ Meridians

Each tooth sits on a specific meridian connecting it to distant organs. A disturbance in a tooth can manifest as dysfunction in its corresponding organ system, and vice versa.

Bioenergetic Assessment

Rather than diagnosing disease, EAV assesses the body's energetic balance, identifying areas of stress, inflammation, or dysfunction before they manifest as clinical symptoms.

Testing Modalities

Methods of Compatibility Testing

Biological dentists use these three approaches to determine which materials are safest for each individual patient.

Meridian Stress Assessment (EAV)

Electro-dermal screening that measures skin conductivity at acupuncture points to identify stress along specific meridians, revealing which teeth or organs need attention.

Serum Compatibility Testing

Blood serum is tested against dental materials to determine which substances are least reactive for each individual, critical for patients with chemical sensitivities and allergies.

Applied Kinesiology

Muscle response testing that evaluates how the body responds to specific substances, a non-invasive way to identify sensitivities and compatible materials.

The Process

How an EAV Session Works

1
The practitioner uses a calibrated probe to measure conductivity at specific acupuncture points
2
Readings outside the normal range indicate stress or dysfunction in the corresponding meridian
3
Each tooth is mapped to organs and tissues through traditional meridian pathways
4
Dental materials are tested by introducing them into the circuit and observing response
5
Results guide which dental materials, treatments, or interventions will be best tolerated
6
The assessment is non-invasive, painless, and provides immediate feedback
The Map

Tooth-Organs Meridian Chart

Each tooth connects to specific organs through energy meridians, the foundation of bioenergetic dental assessment.
