Description

Dental implants are celebrated for their restorative power—but beneath the surface lies a complex biological story still unfolding. This compelling presentation dives into the intersection of implant dentistry, immunology, and modern medicine. We’ll explore how materials like zirconia, often marketed as inert, may harbor aluminum contaminants that influence immune reactivity. Biofilms forming on implant surfaces can act as chronic inflammatory triggers, while recent studies suggest implants themselves may contribute to autoimmune activation in susceptible individuals. But there’s another layer: recent vaccinations—while undeniably life-saving for many—may transiently heighten systemic inflammation, potentially compounding immune responses to implants. We’ll examine the science behind vaccine adjuvants like aluminum, discuss the known benefits of vaccination, and openly explore potential risks when considered alongside implant-related immune activation. This talk offers a nuanced, evidence-based perspective for clinicians and researchers seeking to understand the delicate balance between immune stimulation and immune overload in the context of modern dental and medical practices.

The EUA COVID genetic (gene therapy) "mRNA shots" have been found to be adulterated with plasmid DNA at concentrations often approximating up to one-third of the genetic material in the vials or syringes. These plasmids have been designed to replicate the spike protein and themselves in both mamalian and bacterial cells as well as shuttle the DNA to the nucleus of mamalian cells through an added nuclear targeting sequence. Transfection of those who did not receive the genetic vaccines through shedding of plasmids and/or coming into contact with fluids or tissues containing these plasmids are plausible mechanisms of transfection. Here we will explore the potential for these plasmids to be present in cadaver bone samples and the possibility that these may be able to transfect the bacterial and human cells of the recipient host. This warning is meant to educate dentists and oral surgeons about the potential risks of using cadaver bone grafts where gene therapies may have been used by the decedent, and to also prompt urgent study into the risk of secondary transfection through screening of cadaver bone grafts for plasmid DNA, as well as researching transfection potential through co-incubation of cadaver bone grafts with human and bacterial cell lines.

Speaker Bios:

Dr. Leisha Martin is a biomedical researcher and toxicologist with a strong focus on dental materials science, oral microbiology, and the integration of nanotechnology in preventive and restorative dentistry. Her work spans the development of biocompatible dental materials, the toxicological assessment of dental biomaterials, and innovations in oral hygiene technologies. Dr. Martin’s research has addressed critical challenges in dentistry, including the cytotoxicity of common resins, the inflammatory potential of dental composites, and the systemic implications of materials such as fluoride, bisphenol A (BPA), and heavy metals. She has developed and patented novel nanomaterial-based solutions for oral health, including antimicrobial formulations and dental cleaning systems targeting biofilms and periodontal pathogens. In addition to her work on restorative materials, Dr. Martin has contributed to the understanding of immune responses to dental implants and has investigated the role of aluminum and zirconia contamination, as well as post-vaccine biofilm formation on implant surfaces. Her interdisciplinary approach combines molecular toxicology, regulatory science, and clinical translation, aiming to improve the safety and performance of dental products. With experience in both academic and industrial settings, Dr. Martin has lectured extensively on dental toxicology, biomaterials, and the oral-systemic health axis. She continues to lead research initiatives that bridge dental science and technology commercialization, advancing the future of personalized and preventive oral care

Dr. Janci C. Lindsay, Ph.D. is the Director of Toxicology and Molecular Biology for Toxicology Support Services, LLC. She has spent most of her career as a research scientist, and has over 30 years of scientific experience, primarily in the area of toxicology. She holds a doctorate in Molecular Biology & Biochemistry from the University of Texas, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Biochemistry is the basis of toxicology as a discipline. She is a full member of the Society of Toxicology. She has authored and co-authored multiple scientific publications and have presented my research at national and international scientific meetings. Her work has included investigating exposures to chemicals, biologics, drugs, and particulates, and assessing health risks, and potential for their contribution to disease and impairment based upon the dose-response relationship, and the known toxicological properties of the chemicals/materials involved. Dr. Lindsay has vaccine development experience working with a research team on the development of a recombinant DNA peptide immuno-contraceptive vaccine, now used in veterinary applications to sterilize animals.

What is Biological Dentistry?

What is Biological Dentistry?

Biological Dentistry is concerned with the whole body effects of all dental materials, techniques and procedures. It unites the best clinical practices and technologies of Western dental medicine with a wide array of practices beyond its horizon. It is fluoride-free, mercury-free and mercury-safe.
