The IABDM course, “Protect Protocol Fast Track for Existing Members,” offers an online e-learning experience. This course encompasses detailed instruction on safe mercury amalgam filling removal and participants will gain insights into OSHA standards required by dental practice owners.Each lesson includes resources such as videos, presentations, and reading materials to educate you on the practice of safe mercury amalgam removal. Upon completing the course, you will be required to create and upload a presentation demonstrating documented proof of implementing the safety procedures learned, along with all of the necessary equipment to perform the Protect Protocol for safe mercury amalgam removal, as well as OSHA requirements to protect employees.Dentists practicing outside of the country should follow their respective country’s regulations regarding respiratory protection. While a medical evaluation is not mandatory, it is strongly suggested for anyone wearing a respirator. Additionally, all dental professionals should learn proper fit testing procedures to ensure adequate protection for themselves and their staff.After successfully completing the course and meeting all requirements, you will receive a Protect Protocol Certificate of Completion from the IABDM and be listed on our website as a Protect Protocol Provider. The IABDM also encourages staff members to pursue our Biological RDA/Staff Certification, fostering a cohesive level of knowledge within the dental office by ensuring that integral staff members have completed much of the same coursework.

Course Description:

The Protect Protocol Provider Fast Track Certification is an accelerated online program designed to train dental professionals in the safe removal of mercury amalgam fillings. This course provides focused instruction on the Protect Protocol, emphasizing essential safety procedures to reduce mercury exposure for patients and dental teams.
Participants will also gain a clear understanding of OSHA requirements for dental practice owners, including the implementation of workplace safety measures and proper protective equipment. Through a combination of videos, presentations, and reading materials, learners will develop the knowledge needed to confidently integrate safe amalgam removal protocols into clinical practice.

Completion of the course requires submission of a presentation demonstrating implementation of the Protect Protocol, including proper equipment usage and OSHA compliance. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Protect Protocol Certificate and be recognized as a Protect Protocol Provider on the IABDM website.

Course Objectives:
