Dr. Al Danenberg D.D.S. takes you on a journey that starts with skeletal remains of our primal ancestors to present day primal societies and westernized societies. You will appreciate how chronic diseases and dental diseases manifest. Dr. Danenberg provides various original study materials to market your practice, create an evidence-based in-office nutritional counseling program, and educate your patients with cutting-edge articles. You will learn about diet, lifestyle, and environmental triggers which all affect gut health. And gut health is critical for oral health and overall health and wellness.
You also will receive specific protocols to help your patients heal an unhealthy gut, transition to healthy diets, improve their immune system, and clean their mouth efficiently.
Once you complete the course and successfully pass the 50-multiple-choice exam, IABDM will provide you with 8 CE Credits.

“Dr. Al” Danenberg was a periodontist and was in private practice for 44 years. He incorporated ancestral nutrition & lifestyle with his leading-edge laser protocol to treat periodontal disease. In September 2018, he retired from the practice of treating individual patients. He then consulted with patients by phone, Skype, or Zoom regarding nutrition, lifestyle, oral and overall health, and the importance of a healthy gut.
Dr. Al received advanced training in evolutionary nutrition from the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health as well as The Center for Mind-Body Medicine. In June 2014, he received his Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (CFMP) designation as well as his certification as a Certified Primal Health Coach. In 2015, Dr. Danenberg was appointed to the faculty of the College of Integrative Medicine and created the college’s integrative periodontal teaching module. Then, in April 2017, he earned the designation of “ADAPT Trained Health Professional” from Kresser Institute. In July 2017, Elektra Press released Dr. Danenberg’s book, “Crazy-Good Living”, which is based on ancestral nutrition and lifestyle.
In July of 2020, Dr. Al released his second book, Is Your Gut Killing You?: An in-depth guide on the connection between the gut, the mouth, chronic disease, and how to stay healthy
Course Description:
This 8-hour CE-accredited course, presented by Dr. Al Danenberg, DDS, explores the critical relationship between gut health, oral health, and systemic wellness. Integrating evolutionary biology, clinical dentistry, and functional medicine, this course offers dental professionals a unique perspective on how the gut microbiome affects not only chronic disease outcomes but also the prevalence and severity of oral diseases.
Beginning with anthropological insights from ancient skeletal remains and modern primal populations, Dr. Danenberg provides a deep dive into the patterns and origins of inflammation and disease progression in Western societies. The course covers practical, evidence-based strategies for incorporating nutrition and lifestyle interventions into a dental practice, focusing on in-office counseling, patient education, and holistic health management.
